Have you ever tried to solve a murder mystery and just find your self going in circles while the anwswer is stading right in front of you? In Notorious by Gordan Korman you get to experience boths of those situations from tons of different points of views. Keean, after coming down with tuberculosis, has just moved to centerlight an island that is half Michaigan and half Canada. Zeebee who has lived in centerlight found Keean a couple months after her tragic loss of her dog Barney. No one but Keean believes her when she says Barney was murdered. The antagonist in this book is the never ending evidence that points them in different directions but always meets in the same spot. Keean and Zeebee find conflicts from turning into enemies to overthinking it while the answer is right under their nose. Anyone that is looking for a mystery filled book that makes you find yourself trying to figure out the mystery before them this book would be a perfect book. I love this book, but this book has some strong language. I would recommend this book for 7th grade and upAlmost 4 years agogibvil2021's book review was featured in [The 5th Wave] (By: Rick Yancey) [published: July, 2013].
What would you do if you lost everything to something which you didn’t know existed until just a few months ago? Cassie Sullivan goes through all of this in The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey. In Ohio, the invasion of the “Others” has hit hard. People have been kidnapped, brainwashed, even just flat-out murdered. Cassie’s brother, Sam, was kidnapped by the Others months ago, and has been trying to save him since. After being shot by a soldier for the Others known as a "silencer” she is saved by a mysterious guy named Evan, and he helps Cassie get to Sam. The two of them find the camp where Sam is being held, and from there it’s a fierce battle liberating him from the brainwashing site. This book is an absolutely amazing, action packed adventure, and I’d have to recommend this to people who like books like The Maze Runner, as it is about a dystopian society and has the same sci-fi elements. Quick content warning though, this book should definitely be read by 7th grade and up, as there is very frequent violent content.Almost 4 years agojayjen2021 added a book review.
Picture joining a secret organization and taking a test that rewards a huge cash prize but is different from any test you have taken before. In The Glass Gauntlet by Carter Roy protagonist Ronan Truelove and his friends Greta, and Sam led by Blood Guard overseer Dawkins take an ultimate test but it isn’t all how it sounds. I would recommend this book to 6th graders and up as there is some violence. In my opinion this book is great and I enjoyed reading it. Ronan’s dad holds something very important and has no intent of giving it to them. The book takes place in the Blood Guard training camp and the Glass family mansion where the tests are held. After one of his friend’s soul was captured by his father, Ronan joins the Blood Guard on a mission to retrieve it. A test rewarding high money is held and Ronan and his friends enter not only after the money. Will Ronan and his friends pass the tests and figure out the dark mystery behind it? Maybe, just maybe, Ronan, his friends, and the Blood Guard will meet the man who they have sought after all along.Almost 4 years agogibvil2021 added a book review.
