The Road to El Dorado

The Road to El Dorado

After a failed swindle, two con-men end up with a map to El Dorado, the fabled "city of gold," and an unintended trip to the New World. Much to their surprise, the map does lead the pair to the mythical city, where the startled inhabitants promptly begin to worship them as gods. The only question is, do they take the worshipful natives for all they're worth, or is there a bit more to El Dorado than riches?

I watched this when I was little. I think it was great. It's not a great movie to me. It was kind of UNfamily friendly. But keep up the good work!

Warning! This review may contain spoilers! I'll explain the plot eventually. What I thought of it: Miguel and Tulio were my two favorite characters. I think I might have liked Miguel better though. Their friendship was probably the best part of the movie for me. As for Chel, I wanted to like her, but I just couldn't. Her character was underdeveloped as was her relationship with Tulio. I mean it's not like she was a completely useless character (like many love interest are), but her relationship with Tulio was underdeveloped and unnecessary. It would have been much better if she hadn't started dating Tulio. All their relationship did was mess up the relationship between Miguel and Tulio. It would have been much better if they had all just remained friends. Another thing that annoyed me was the fact that Miguel never really confronted Tulio about his relationship with Chel. I mean, they promised each other that they wouldn't get involved with her (the promise was actually Tulio's idea), Tulio broke that promise (which, again, was his idea) and Miguel never confronts him. I mean he gets annoyed for a while, but he kind of just gets over it at the end. It kind of angered me that Tulio acted like a jerk, and in the end, he completely got away with his jerk-y-ness. The plot was pretty cliché, though I still very much enjoyed it. The entire movie was pretty predicable, but, again, I still found it really enjoyable. The soundtrack was ok, though I've definitely heard better. The animation was good, though nothing special. Overall, I really enjoyed it.
