I love this movie. True, it is different from the book, but it is wonderful in it's own way. From Mary Poppins' magical umbrella, to Bert and his chalk drawings, a to Mr Banks at the bank, Mary Poppins is a fun-filled movie, with magical adventures that I can watch over and over without tiring. I think that the differences from the book give it a chance to be it's own thing. I love the bird lady, and Mary Poppins' sass as well as kindness and smarts. She's obviously not just a pretty face. Julie Andrews is one of my favorite actresses, and the role of Mary Poppins was played so well, that whenever I see another movie with Julie Andrews in it, I think of this one. Mary Poppins has definitely been my favorite since I was about... Say ten? With the music, the gorgeous scenes, and the fun characters I feel that if it is not already, this movie should be considered to some extent, a classic.

Well, I read the book first and the book was fantastic! The movie does a pretty good job introducing the characters. but the movie isn't too much like the book. Though I really enjoyed Julie Andrews' singing and thought it was so cool that my favorite song from the movie was actually NOT in the book, but was written just for the movie. Can you guess which song that is? Mary Poppins is not jolly or nice in the book like she is in the movie. The kinder Poppins likes Jane and Michael and makes for a fairy tale ending movie, which is nice. I would have like to see a closer book to movie relationship, but it was ok to watch.
