- I watched this movie in theaters when it came out. We loved the first movie and had already watched it several times, so when we saw the teaser trailer, we were super excited for the sequel, but it doesn't really live up to the first. Which of course is super understandable. When you are manufacture one of the biggest blockbusters of the decade and a legendary Disney Princess duo that represent familial love that also so happens to be every little girl's idol, it is hard to meet the high standards everyone has premeditated. They tried, but I do not believe it was anywhere close to the first movie. The plot of this movie revolves around the past of their parents, grandparents, how the parents' love story began, and the history of Elsa's powers. I prefer the adventure and thrill of the last one more however, but, if we are not being bias, the movie still had some cool scenes. The movie really revolves around Elsa and their mom more than anyone else so Anna wasn't that big of a character. The movie kind of reminded me of how BuzzFeed or TheThings talks about fanfictions or conspiracies between princess movies and Frozen. The movie spent a lot of time shutting those theories down and portraying the mystery as though TheThings lady was narrating it herself. I prefer the first mainly because it focuses on the bond between Anna and Elsa and Anna trying to find her sister, where this one was more of a do-whatever-and-let's-hope-we-find-something-about-what's-happening-in-Arrendale-or-maybe-just-a-random-thing-about-our-parents'-death-Either-one-is-fine. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does make the plot a bit twisty turning from the fires in Arrendale to Elsa's powers and then to their parents and back again. One thing I also didn't like was Kristoff. He was more of a liability than an asset unlike the last movie. As everyone was circumspecting. exploring, and trying to figure out this mystery, he was planning his proposal to Anna and peregrinating around the village aimlessly. His song was even worse in my opinion. But, even with overlooking all of this, the movie was just overall sadder. The colors were switched from those bright icy blues, to muted purples. The songs went from upbeat melodies that you can't get out of your head to lullabies sung about rivers. And almost every main character, except for the aimless Kristoff, either dies, or everyone think that they have died. Plus the took out the most important character - Oaken! You don't hear any Yooohoooos this time around. I just wish they would have chosen a better plot point to focus on. I am really upset with this movie.
